Press Conferences

Overview -

Press conferences for our clients usually involve a new product introduction, and are an event planned in advance. The media involved may be newspaper, magazine, radio or television. Sometimes a “media event” is scheduled involving new product demonstrations, leisure activities, and a luncheon or dinner.  The information on this section pertains to a press conference only, usually lasting no more than 20 minutes.

Services –

Planning

Generally, press conference locations and times are determined by our clients. We may provide some assistance is determining the best location within their trade show booth or corporate headquarters to hold the press conference.

Equipment

Podium –

Nearly always we will provide an attractive podium with microphones and an audio system. The podium my also be equipped with a flat panel monitor if a PowerPoint presentation is involved. We may also have our clients logo created in a dimensional foam sign that we attach to the front of the podium. Another item that is used at many press conferences is  audio distribution amplifier or “press box”. This item avoids the cluster of microphones on the podium that is sometimes seen on TV. With this box we can provide the broadcast media people with a clean audio feed straight from the podium microphones. Immediately prior to the press conference we work with the broadcast media people to make sure each one has a good audio feed from us.

Lighting/Backdrops -

Depending on the situation, we may provide video lighting for the presenters as well as either a drapery backdrop in a variety of colors or a hard, non-reflective theatrical flat. We may also attach any client provided banners/signs to this backdrop. Lighting may also be provided for a new product that may be shown.

Wireless Microphones –

Some press conferences include a question & answer session immediately following. We provide wireless microphones so that the questions from the media can be heard by the presenter(s) as well as the rest if the media.

Computer Graphic/Video Projection –

If a short PowerPoint or video is presented at the press conference we will provide the necessary computers, tape decks. projector(s), and screen(s). A podium monitor is usually also included for the presenter.

Teleprompter –

The use of a teleprompter can make it much easier on the presenter.  We have worked for many years with a teleprompting company that provides a “presidential” twin-screen prompting system and an operator. We recommend allowing a little time prior to the event to get used to working with the teleprompter operator, and to make sure that the copy reads well. The prompter operator can make minor tweaks to the script right up to show time.
